John Smoltz

John Smoltz has been one of the best pitchers of his generation. Arm injuries caused him to move from the rotation to the bullpen, but in 2008 he found himself starting again on a Braves team that was supposed to compete for the National League East crown. Smoltz's season mirrored the Braves', with arm injuries again cutting it short. He is contemplating a return next season, when he will turn 42.

Considering what Jamie Moyer did at 44 this year, we know that pitchers can succeed at that age but Smoltz is a decidedly different pitcher than Moyer. Can he still be successful?

John Smoltz is a four-pitch pitcher at this point in his career: fastball, slider, curveball, and split-fingered fastball. Here is a look at the movement of his pitches.

Smoltz still has plenty of giddy-up on his four-seam fastball, averaging 93 mph with it. This is just a shade under the 93.5 he averaged in 2007, so even though he was pitching in pain due to his shoulder all season, his fastball didn't suffer. Even if he loses two mph more next year, he still would be right at league average. Plenty of pitchers can get by with a fastball that good.

The concern here, however, is that Smoltz really stopped using his fastball in 2008, throwing it just 40 percent of the time (league average is around 60 percent) and almost never in strikeout situations. A fastball like his that not only has plenty of speed but also has 10 inches of vertical "rise" should get plenty of swings and misses. In 2007, he threw his fastball 32 percent of the time when the count was 1-2, but only 14 percent of the time last year. It is possible that Smoltz's shoulder was acting up more when he threw his fastball, but if he does come back for 2009 he needs to get back to throwing it more when he is ahead of hitters even if it isn't as good as it once was.

Smoltz's slider is a hard one, averaging 86 mph with only about two inches of horizontal slide. While it would be nice if he could generate more movement with the pitch, it doesn't seem likely at this point. He shouldn't throwing that slider as much to left-handed hitters. In 2008, he threw his slider 30 percent of the time to lefties and threw only 33 percent fastballs to them. While his more three-quarters arm slot means his fastball tails away from lefties, I think that still is a better option than his slider. Also, as we will see, he has another off-speed pitch that would be a far better option.

Smoltz's curveball is a little more slurvy than you see from most pitchers who throw as fast as he does. He generates four inches of horizontal movement with the pitch, but only three inches of downward movement. This pitch seems like it would be effective against right-handed batters, tailing down and away from them, but he almost never throws it against them, choosing to use it sparingly to left-handed batters. While the downward movement should make the pitch somewhat effective against lefties, the nice horizontal movement should make the pitch effective against right-handed batters as well.

Lastly, the pitch that has been a staple in Smoltz's arsenal, his splitter. Smoltz has an excellent one, even now generating almost 10 inches of horizontal movement away from a left-handed batter with a speed that is only six mph slower than his fastball. The pitch looks like a fastball until it breaks down and away from a lefty at the last instant. This is the pitch that Smoltz is most effective with against left-handed batters and, while he is using it as his strikeout pitch, I'd love to see him use it more when the count was even and later in the count.

As much as John Smoltz likes being in the rotation, I feel that if he wants to contribute in 2009 the best place for him would be the bullpen. If he does lose a bit off his fastball, moving into the pen would allow him to throw fewer pitches and throw those fastballs harder. It also would allow him to use his less effective off-speed pitches less as he doesn't have to worry about facing a lineup three or four times a game.

雖然Smoltz比較喜歡擔任先發投手，但是我認為如果他希望2009年能對球隊繼續有貢獻，最適合他的位置還是牛棚。如果快速球的球速真的降低了一點，擔任牛棚投手可以減少它的投球量，並且將快速球催的快一些。同時也可以減少威力較不足的慢速球種的使用量，不用擔心在一場比賽中需要使用這些球種面對對手打線三或四次。

If he focuses in on his fastball and splitter to left-handed batters and his fastball and either slider or curve to right-handed batters, there is absolutely no reason (other than health) that he can't be a lights-out closer in 2009.

到了位在成大附近勝利路上的"勝利早點"，果然已經有一堆"夭鬼"在排隊了。我點了最多人推荐的"蔥餅"與"豬肉蛋餅"，還有甜餅，油條，豆漿米漿各一碗。

好吃的蔥餅

首先品嚐的是剛出爐的蔥餅，將蔥餅剝兩半，酥脆的餅皮裡果然充滿了綠油油的蔥。吃了一口，蔥很甜很香，喜歡吃蔥的人肯定會喜歡的。接下來吃的是豬肉蛋餅，與一般早餐店的豬肉蛋餅不同的是裡面還包著高麗菜絲，吃起來有脆脆的口感與高麗菜的甜味，感覺比較不會那麼油膩。雖然豬肉的厚度不像食尚玩家主持人莎莎說的那麼誇張的厚，不過也是很好吃，份量也算多。

再來就是油條與甜餅。油條應該是已經炸好放了一陣子了，雖然還是蠻脆的，不過冰冰涼涼的，吃起來感覺更油，吃了一半就吃不下去了。甜餅則同樣有酥脆的餅皮，吃起來雖然乾乾的，但是越嚼越甜，我喜歡。

勝利早點的餐點種類非常的多，還有很多沒吃到，隔壁也有一家黑豆漿早餐店，生意看起來也不錯，下次再來吃吃看。

Jim Morris

James "Jimmy" Samuel Morris (出生於1964年1月19日，德州布朗伍德)是一位前美國職業棒球選手，他簡短但傳奇的大聯盟生涯非常知名。

兒童時期，他總是忙著搬家，從一個城市搬到另一個城市。根據他的自傳的說法，他從三歲就開始接觸棒球了。越戰之後，他的父親成為了美國海軍的招募人員，家庭也定居於德州。之後 Morris 進入了 Angelo 州立大學就讀，但是這所學校並沒有棒球隊，因此他改打美式足球，但是他從未放棄成為職業棒球選手的夢想。

1982年1月的選秀會上，他在第456順位被紐約洋基隊選上，但是並未簽約，Morris 於隔年又再度被密爾瓦基釀酒人隊以第四順位選中，並且簽下了合約。但是在小聯盟期間，他的手臂傷痛不斷，因此在1987年球季被釀酒人隊釋出。他在1989年加入了芝加哥白襪隊，但是仍然沒有任何的表現，最後 Morris 決定退休，並且到位於德州大湖市的雷根郡高中擔任物理老師與棒球隊教練。

Mussina

一如大家所預期的，紐約洋基隊投手 Mike Mussina 決定退休，結束18年的大聯盟生涯。他在上週告知洋基球團他將在本週結束前會給予球隊一個肯定的答案。

下個月8號即將滿40歲的 Mussina 生涯前十個球季皆效力於巴爾迪摩金鶯隊，最後八個球季則為紐約洋基隊投球。生涯累積270勝在現役右投手中排名第二，僅次於 Greg Maddux。2813次三振則在現役球員中排名第六，大聯盟史上第19。Mussina 在生涯的最後一場先發中面對波士頓紅襪隊投出了6局無失分的成績，並且獲得勝投，也使自己生涯首度單季勝投數達到20場。1990年在第一輪被金鶯隊選上的 Mussina 生涯累積270勝153敗，自責分率3.68。

雖然 Mussina 的270勝未達到名人堂非正式標準的300勝，但是他入選名人堂的可能性將會因為他的投球生涯位於類固醇時代，且整個生涯接待在進攻能力較強的美聯東區而提高。

在大聯盟歷史上除了 Mussina 以外只有20位勝率超過5成的投手勝場數超過敗場數100場以上，其中16位為名人堂成員，另外四位尚未獲得票選資格，他們分別為 Roger Clemens，Pedro Martinez，Greg Maddux 與 Tom Glavine。

除此之外，史上也只有五位生涯超過270勝的投手的勝率比 Mussina(.638) 更高 - Lefty Grove，Christy Mathewson，Clemens，Randy Johnson 與 Grover Cleveland Alexander。

Mussina 在不久前才剛獲得了生涯第七座的金手套獎，並且在美聯賽揚獎與年度最有價值球員票選中分別排名第六與第八。

根據 Elias Sports Bureau 的資料，Mussina 為1900年後第五位生涯的最後一個球季拿到超過20勝的球員，也是自1967年的 Sandy Koufax 後的首位創下這項紀錄的球員。他同時也是創下這項紀錄的所有球員中，唯一一位在最後一場先發拿第20勝的。

Tim Lincecum 投他的二缝線快速球

During the last offseason, I gushed over Tim Lincecum and his incredible tools. Now that Lincecum has taken home the Cy Young award, I want to do my first rewrite of a player, to look at Lincecum's evolution this year and how he went from an excellent pitcher to the best pitcher in the National League.

First, though, a small correction to the previous article. Tim Lincecum's fastball is actually a two-seamer, not a four-seam fastball. Really, whether it is a four-seamer or two-seamer doesn't matter because of the excellent action of the pitch. Here is a look at the movement of Lincecum's pitches.

由於這顆球的優異位移軌跡，不管它是四缝線還是二缝線都不重要了。以下是Lincecum的球種位移圖。

Lincecum's fastball averages 95 mph, which is overpowering, but he combines that with 11 inches of vertical movement and only three inches of horizontal movement. The small horizontal movement is because Lincecum throws his fastball from almost completely over the top. Because his fastball has little horizontal movement, it is effective against both right- and left-handed batters. Pitchers who throw more sidearm generally specialize in similarly handed batters. The overpowering speed is great, but the movement of the pitch makes it so much better.

For off-speed pitches, Lincecum throws a change-up, slider and curveball. While the change-up and curveball were holdovers from last year, Lincecum added a slider this year—about two sliders in 100 pitches. Lincecum had thrown a slider in college, but it was scrapped when he was drafted. You can see why Lincecum didn't use his slider often—it has almost no horizontal movement, which is important.

至於慢速球種方面，Liucecum會投變速球，滑球與曲球。除了去年就有使用的變速球與曲球外，Lincecum今年又加上了滑球，大約100顆球中有2顆是滑球。Lincecum大學時就曾使用滑球，但是當他被巨人隊選中後，滑球就被封印了。由於幾乎沒有水平位移，所以Lincecum不常使用他的滑球。

Lincecum's curveball is a very hard one, averaging 80 mph, similar to Ben Sheets'. Also like Sheets, he gets good vertical drop, and that combination is absolutely deadly. Here is a look at Lincecum's average fastball and curve from the side.

Because of its speed, Lincecum can hide his curve extremely well. His curveball's hump is absolutely tiny and he is letting it go from exactly the same release point. That gives a hitter no clue that the pitch is coming. But fooling hitters is only part of the equation. You then have to have the pitch drop enough so the hitter is swinging over the curve. That is where the vertical movement comes in; you can see the result with the huge differential when the pitch reaches home plate. That combination is what makes the pitch so effective.

As good as Lincecum's curve is, I don't feel it is his best off-speed pitch. That pitch is his change-up, which has identical horizontal movement to his fastball with about half a foot less vertical "rise." In addition, Lincecum has an excellent speed differential of almost 11 mph. That is extremely strong. When you look at his change-up and fastball, you see an even more devastating combination than his curveball/fastball.

There isn't any way for a hitter to identify the change-up here until the ball is right on top of him. If his change-up had different horizontal movement than his fastball, hitters could use that, but again, Lincecum's change-up has identical horizontal movement. This is one of the best change-ups in the world right now and you hear almost nothing about it. The scary thing is Lincecum just started throwing this pitch when he signed with the Giants. Whoever taught Lincecum his change in the Giants organization deserves a huge raise.

Usage

While Lincecum's pitches are electric, plenty of pitchers have electric stuff. What made Lincecum the best pitcher in the National League this year was how he used those pitches. Last year, he used his curve a little more than his change-up and used it mostly as his strikeout pitch. This year, Lincecum used his change-up more often and with two strikes much more frequently. As I mentioned last week while writing about Brett Myers, breaking pitches that move away from the hitter tend to be more effective than breaking pitches that move toward the hitter. For a right-handed pitcher, this means more change-ups to left-handed batters and more curveballs to right-handed batters. Lincecum absolutely followed that pattern this year.

Notice that Lincecum still throws some curves to left-handed batters and some change-ups to right-handed batters. He can get away with that more than other pitchers because he throws over the top and his change-up and curve have less horizontal movement. Pitchers like Myers who have more horizontal movement with breaking pitches need to be more careful about this. This means that right-handed batters can't just forget about Lincecum's change-up and focus on his fastball and curveball. Just another thing for hitters to worry about when facing Lincecum.

I hope this article has convinced you that Tim Lincecum is far more than just his 95 mph fastball. While speed is great, Lincecum's movement on his pitches is also excellent. Lincecum's off-speed pitches mesh incredibly well with his fastball and this year he threw the right pitch for the situation time and time again.

小公主點了一份"排骨熱烏龍麵"，我則點了得獎的"牛也瘋狂冷烏龍麵"，店裡除了菜單上的烏龍麵與蓋飯外，還有數種"炸物"，他的炸物強調都是現炸的，點餐後才炸。

這道"牛也瘋狂冷烏龍麵"裡面的料很豐富，最底層是烏龍麵與醬汁，上面鋪著牛肉，蕃茄，水波蛋，海苔絲，芝麻，泡菜，美乃滋與幾根好像是炸牛蒡的東西。店員還特別告知吃之前要先將所有的東西拌勻。

烏龍麵吃起來超有嚼勁，應該是我吃過最Q的烏龍麵，味道不知道該怎麼形容，總之是前所未有的口味就是了，不過也許是加了美乃滋的關係，吃到一半就覺得很膩了。

而"排骨熱烏龍麵"的排骨味道不錯，但是麵的嚼勁卻和冷麵裡的差了一大截，吃起來感覺就不是那麼特別。

店裡面還有提供免費的麵衣可以讓顧客自行取用，麵衣非常的酥脆，加在冷麵或熱湯麵裡都不錯。

After a few weeks in the minors, Myers was called up and pitched much better, posting a 3.49 ERA with a significantly better walk rate in his 14 starts down the stretch. What did Myers change that made such a difference? Many times you hear a manager say that a pitcher needs to work on a few things, but what really is going on? I'll shed some light on what Myers was working on and how his stuff changed in his return.

Let's start with an overview of Brett Myers' repertoire. Myers is one of the few pitchers in the big leagues who throws (at least) five pitches frequently: four-seam fastball, sinker, slider, curve and change-up. Here is a look at his movement chart.

Myers' fastball is very over-the-top, with little horizontal movement but good "rise." When he is right, he is throwing this pitch in the lower to mid 90s. He also throws a sinker that has better horizontal movement than it actually sinks and he throws this pitch in the upper 80s, touching 90 on the gun.

His main off-speed pitches are his curve and slider. His curve is mostly 12 to 6, with very good vertical drop. Myers' curve is more lollipop than hard curve: He throws it in the upper 70s. His slider is in the mid 80s with very little horizontal movement but also not a lot of vertical "rise." Frequent readers can probably guess which of these two pitches I like better, but here goes: Because Myers doesn't get a lot of movement with his slider, it isn't going to be a very effective strikeout pitch because he can't start the pitch on the outer corner and have it tail away from right-handed batters. While his curveball drops off the table, his slider doesn't slide off it. Myers also throws a circle change-up that is kind of an average pitch around 83 mph with more horizontal movement and less vertical movement than to his fastball.

Now, depending on whom you talk to, Myers also throws a splitter and a cutter. Where are these pitches on Myers' movement chart? Well, he might have thrown a few splitters this year, but not a lot. If you look at his change-ups, you can a few that have migrated very close to his four-seam fastball. These pitches move more like you would expect a splitter to move and are a little faster than most his change-ups.

But because there are not many of these pitches, my classification algorithm has lumped them in with his change. This seems to fit other reports perfectly as well. The story behind Myers' cutter appears to be similar to the story behind CC Sabathia's cutter: He calls it a cutter, but it behaves like other pitchers' sliders. So if you hear Myers, or pitching coach Rich Dubee, refer to Myers cutter, it is what others refer to as his slider.

So what was wrong with Myers in the beginning of the year? After a April 27 start against the Pirates, it appeared to Dubee and manager Charlie Manuel that Myers' fastball wasn't as fast as he would like it to be and he was throwing too many sliders (cutters). In fact, that appeared to be a problem throughout the first half. Here is a table of Myers' pitches and how he used them.

You can see that Myers' fastball was actually slower than his sinker at just over 90 mph. That is extremely rare and not a good sign. To compensate, Myers was throwing a few more sinkers than fastballs and was using the sinker to both left- and right-handed batters. His main off-speed pitch was his slider, which he also threw about a quarter of the time and was willing to throw to both left- and right-handed batters. While you can throw off-speed pitches that break in to a batter, it generally is not done because of the likelihood of leaving a pitch middle-in to a batter. This is especially true of pitchers who throw as many pitches as Myers does.

So how do the numbers look after his stint in the minors? Much better.

Myers' fastball is back in the low 90s, with his other offerings staying about the same. Instead of a mix of fastballs and sinkers to both right- and left-handed batters, Myers went to his fastball much more to right-handed batters and his sinker more to left-handed batters. Remember that Myers' sinker has excellent horizontal movement away from a left handed batter but in to a right handed batter. His fastball, on the other hand, has very little horizontal movement at all. It is a similar story with his off-speed pitches.

After he came back up. Myers' main off-speed pitch was his curve, with some sliders and change-ups mixed in. He almost completely stopped throwing his change-up to right-handed batters and sparingly used his slider to left-handed batters. His curve, which has great vertical drop, became his strikeout pitch no matter the handedness of the batter. What this meant was that now batters were much more likely to see a ball tailing away from them than tailing in to them. This is a huge adjustment and something I think more pitchers could benefit from.

Conclusions
結論

While Myers' fastball returned to form after his trip to Triple-A, what really made the difference for him was how he used his pitches. His slider, which doesn't have great movement, took a back seat to his curve ball, which is an excellent pitch, especially in strikeout situations. While he was a threat to throw any of his five pitches on any count before going to the minors, he kept the ball moving away from batters upon returning.

While hitters had a better idea of what Myers might throw, he was able to beat them with his stuff because he was using his pitches better. By keeping the ball moving away from hitters, he kept them off balance and unable to square him up.

Ryne Dee Sandberg (born September 18, 1959 in Spokane, Washington), nicknamed "Ryno", is a former second baseman in Major League Baseball who spent nearly his entire career with the Chicago Cubs. He was named after relief pitcher Ryne Duren, and is recognized as one of the best second basemen of all time. Sandberg was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in January 2005; he was formally inducted in ceremonies on July 31, 2005. He is the current manager of the Peoria Chiefs.

Sandberg established himself as a perennial All-Star and Gold Glove candidate, making 10 consecutive All-Star appearances and winning 9 consecutive Gold Gloves from 1983 to 1991. His career .989 fielding percentage is a major league record at second base.

Philadelphia Phillies

Sandberg was drafted in the 20th round of the 1978 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He went on to make his major league debut as a shortstop for the Phillies in 1981.

However, the Phillies didn't have much room in the lineup for him at the time. The Phillies didn't think he could play shortstop, and he was blocked from second and third base by Manny Trillo and Mike Schmidt, respectively. Accordingly, he was traded along with shortstop Larry Bowa to the Cubs for shortstop Ivan DeJesus prior to the 1982 season. The trade, now considered one of the most one-sided deals in baseball history, came about because Bowa had antagonized the Phillies' front office. However, Cubs general manager Dallas Green (a former Phillies manager) wanted a young prospect to go along with the aging Bowa.

Years later, Phillies general manager Paul Owens said that he didn't want to trade Sandberg, but Green and the Cubs weren't interested in any of the other prospects he offered. Owens then went back to his scouts, who told him Sandberg wouldn't be any more than a utility infielder. However, Sandberg had hit over .290 in the minors two years in a row.

The Cubs, who initially wanted Sandberg to play center field, installed him as their third baseman, and he went on to be one of the top-rated rookies of 1982. However, Sandberg was displaced by Chicago's trade for veteran Ron Cey following the 1982 season, so Sandberg moved to second base, where he became a star.

After winning a Gold Glove Award in his first season at the new position, Sandberg emerged with a breakout season in 1984, in which he batted .314 with 200 hits, 114 runs, 36 doubles, 19 homers and triples, and 84 RBI. He nearly became only the third player to collect 20 doubles, triples, home runs, and stolen bases in the same season, led the Cubs to the National League's Eastern Division title (their first championship of any kind since 1945), and won National League Most Valuable Player honors.

One game in particular was cited for putting Sandberg (as well as the 1984 Cubs in general) "on the map", a NBC national telecast of a Cubs-Cardinals game on June 23, 1984. The Cubs had been playing well throughout the season's first few months, but as a team unaccustomed to winning, they had not yet become a serious contender in the eyes of most baseball fans.

As for Sandberg, he had played two full seasons in the major leagues, and while he had shown himself to be a top-fielding second baseman and fast on the basepaths (over 30 stolen bases both seasons), his .260-ish batting average and single-digit home run production were respectable for his position but not especially noteworthy, and Sandberg was not talked about outside Chicago. The Game of the Week, however, put the sleeper Cubs on the national stage against their regional rival, the St. Louis Cardinals. Both teams were well-established franchises with a strong fan base outside the Chicago and St. Louis area.

In the ninth inning, the Cubs trailed 9-8, and faced the premier relief pitcher of the time, Bruce Sutter. Sutter was at the forefront of the emergence of the closer in the late 1970s and early 1980s: a hard-throwing pitcher who typically came in just for the ninth inning and saved around 30 games a season. (Sutter was especially dominant in 1984, saving 45 games.) However, in the ninth inning, Sandberg, not known for his power, slugged a home run to left field against the Cardinals' ace closer. Despite this dramatic act, the Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the tenth. Sandberg came up again in the tenth inning, facing a determined Sutter with one man on base. As Cubs' radio announcer Harry Caray described it:

The Cubs went on to win in the 11th inning. The Cardinals' Willie McGee had already been named NBC's player of the game before Sandberg's first home run. In 1990, Sandberg led the National League in home runs – a rarity for a second baseman – with 40. Sandberg was only the third second baseman to hit 40 home runs; Rogers Hornsby and Davey Johnson hit 42, and no American League second baseman has yet reached forty. Sandberg also batted in 100 runs, despite batting second in the order. His batting average did not suffer from his new level of power, as he finished at .306 for the season. Sandberg, Brady Anderson and Barry Bonds are the only players to have both a 40-homer (1990) and 50-steal (1985) season during their careers. Sandberg played a major league-record 123 straight games at second base without an error. This has since been broken by Plácido Polanco of the Detroit Tigers.

In 1992, Sandberg became the highest paid player in baseball at the time, signing a $28.4 million four year extension worth $7.1 million a season. He earned a spot on the NL All Star roster and an NL Silver Slugger Award at second base with a .304 batting average, 26 home runs, 100 runs, and 87 runs batted in.

After struggling early in the season, Sandberg retired in 1994. While he had been a historically slow starter throughout his entire career, his 1994 start was slower than normal. In his book, Second To Home, Sandberg said,

He came back for the 1996 and 1997 seasons, retiring again with a career batting average of .285, and a record 277 home runs as a second baseman; this record was surpassed in 2004 by Jeff Kent.

Since retiring, Sandberg has kept a low profile. In 2003, Sandberg accepted his first marketing deal since his retirement, agreeing to be spokesman for a Chicago bank. He also appeared on ESPN Radio 1000 as an analyst during the 2004 baseball season. He currently serves as manager of the Peoria Chiefs and formerly served as a spring training instructor for the Cubs in Mesa, Arizona. He is also a former baseball columnist for Yahoo Sports.

Sandberg delivered what many traditionalist fans considered a stirring speech at his Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2005.^[1] He thanked the writers who voted for him because it meant that he played the game the way he had been taught it should be played. He spoke several times of respect for the game, and chided a subset of current players who, in his opinion, lack that respect. Specifically, he spoke of how the game needs more than home run hitters, citing that turning a double-play and laying down a sacrifice bunt are weapons many of today's greats don't value.

He followed up on his Hall of Fame induction by becoming only the fourth Chicago Cub to have his number retired. The others have been Ernie Banks (#14), Billy Williams (#26) and Ron Santo (#10).

On August 28, 2005, Sandberg had his number 23 retired in a ceremony at Wrigley Field, before a Cubs game against the Florida Marlins. His number had already been de facto retired, as no other Cub had been assigned the number since Sandberg's active playing days had ended. In his capacity as a Cubs spring training instructor and as the Peoria Chiefs manager, Sandberg still wears his uniform number 23.

2005年8月28日，在小熊隊與馬林魚隊的比賽賽前舉行了Sandberg的23號背號退休儀式。事實上他的背號早就可以算是退休了，因為自從Sandberg退休後就不曾再有小熊隊的球員使用這個背號了。Sandberg在擔任小熊隊春訓教練與皮歐利亞酋長隊總教練時仍然穿著他的23號球衣。

Sandberg and his wife, Margaret, founded Ryno Kid Care to assist in the lives of children with serious illnesses. The organization provides anything from big brothers to a home-cooked meal. Ryno Kid Care also provides massage therapists and clowns dressed up as doctors and nurses to brighten the children's day.

菜單上的菜色和鼎泰豐很類似，大多是小籠包，燒賣等港式點心與上海點心。我們還在菜單上發現了小嵐在大陸吃過就念念不忘的"上海生煎包"。

先上桌的是兩樣小菜，豬耳朵與小魚乾。這裡的豬耳朵與一般外面賣的不同，不是切成絲，而是切成有點厚度的薄片。一般的豬耳朵吃起來比較脆，而高記的吃起來像豬耳朵"凍"，口感頗佳，味道也不錯。至於小魚乾真的是超好吃，超脆的。不會太辣也不會"死鹹"。

接著上來的就是小籠包(10個$150)，海鮮酸辣湯與上海乾拌麵($60)，小籠包看起來和鼎泰豐的根本就一模一樣，皮也是一樣超薄的，裡面充滿了湯汁。美味程度不輸鼎泰豐。酸辣湯裡面的料很多，有蟹肉，干貝和蝦仁。上海乾拌麵則較為普通，雖然也不錯，但是還是鼎泰豐的蔥花干麵略勝一籌。

再來就是最期待的上海鐵鍋生煎包，上桌時鐵鍋還發出滋滋的聲響，外觀與在大陸吃的生煎包類似，生煎包的底部在鐵鍋上煎的脆脆的。由於之前在上海與蘇州吃的生煎包裡面都和小籠包一樣充滿湯汁，所以我小心翼翼的咬了一小口，準備要吸湯汁，啊~~怎麼沒有湯汁呢?令我有點失望。生煎包的外觀雖然和大陸的很像，但是吃起來就差了一點，大陸的底部吃起來更酥脆，也許是用大鍋子煎，火力比較強的關係吧。

甜點當然是點了我最愛的豆沙小包，去鼎泰豐我可以不吃小籠包，但是絕對不能錯過皮超薄豆沙小包。豆沙小包剛端上桌時大家都傻眼了，以為他送錯了，因為這根本不是"小包"啊，是"大包"，這裡的豆沙小包不是像鼎泰豐的一樣小巧可愛，而是比較像是一般的豆沙包的大小。

我們就坐在廚房的旁邊，可以透過一大片的玻璃看到廚房裡廚師準備料理的過程。這點也和鼎泰豐很類似。我覺得高記的料理美味程度不輸鼎泰豐，而且不用排隊排老半天，是除了鼎泰豐以外想吃小籠包以及其他上海點心的另外一個好選擇。

阿強仔冰店

今天下班吃飽飯後心血來潮，決定去嚐嚐前幾天電視上介紹的科學麻辣冰，從公園路轉長榮路，過了大學路一小段就到了這間"阿強仔冰店"。我點的當然是"科學麻辣冰"，由於之前在網路上看到有人因為太辣了，配了兩杯西瓜之才吃完，所以我又另外點了一杯冬瓜茶。

這裡的冰品種類很多，除了冰以外，還有賣關東煮與鍋燒麵，點餐是在櫃檯填寫點菜單，付完錢後店員會給你號碼牌，接著就等著叫號碼啦。點完餐不到一分鐘我點的冰就好了。第一眼看到這"科學麻辣冰"，覺得老闆真是太天才了，竟然能想到這種組合。冰就是一般的挫冰，還有糖水，上面灑滿捏碎的科學麵，科學麵附的調味粉與辣粉。

第一口先從旁邊沒有科學麵的地方吃起，真的就是一般的糖水挫冰，沒啥特別。第二口吃了一些科學麵，鹹鹹甜甜的，冰冰脆脆的，真的是奇特的味道加上詭異的口感，還真不是一般的特別阿!!第三口吃了一沾到辣粉的科學麵與冰。A~~真的是這被子第一次吃到的口味勒，沒有想像中的辣。一口接著一口吃，雖然不會很辣，但是吃到後來舌頭和嘴唇都變得麻麻的，頭皮也冒了點汗。冰的份量還漫多的，可以兩個人吃一份，而且建議別吃太慢，因為等到科學麵泡得軟軟的時候，吃起來的口感應該會有點噁心吧。

至於冬瓜茶呢，不知道是不是冰的口味太重的關係，所以我一點也喝不出味道來啊，疴疴!!
